. Joined in 1964 as Asstt. Manager at Manoharpur Iron Ore Mines, IISCO (Jharkhand)
. Transfered to Gua Iron Ore Mines, IISCO (Jharkhand) in 1966
. Worked as Production Manager, Manager, Superintendent, Chief Superintendent, Asstt. General Manager, Deputy General Manager (Incharge) at Gua, Singbhum, Jharkhand.
. Headed Chiria and Gua Ore Mines of SAIL, from 1990 to 1995 as DGM I/C.
. Placed at Burnpur Steel Plant (SAIL) for coordination between RMD and IISCO Steel Plant in the year 1995.
. Superannuated from SAIL in the year 1997.
After retirement from SAIL, took up the assignment as Advisor in S N Sunderson & Company for taking care of their five Limestone/ Dolomite Mines, Refractory and Lime Kilns at Katni Kaimore Area of M.P. Sunderson's despatches of Limestone/Dolomite were further resumed to Durgapur, Bokaro and Jindal Steel (Raigarh C.G.) as they were earlier restricted to Tisco Steel Plant only. Finally retired from Sunderson in the year 2004.

1. Participated in the seminars on Management Development, Managerial Effectiveness, Produc
tivity Development, Human Resource Management, Energy and Cost Control Management
Programmes, conducted by M.T.I. Ranchi (SAIL)and National Productivity Council, Delhi.
Certificate was awarded for Mines Safety by National Councill of Safety in Mines and
National Safety Council in 1974.
2. Was appointed an Examiner for Final Year Min. Engg. students of G.C.E.T.Raipur for two
Consecutive years 1989, 1990
3. Was also as an Examiner of First and Second Class Mine Managers' Certificate of
Competency for 3 consecutive years, 1993, 1994, 1995 appointed by D.G.M.S. Dhanbad.
Before this I was also Examiner for All India Mining Foreman and Mining Mates' Examina
tions.
4. Visited Australia as a leader of the five member SAIL team in the year June-July 1994 and
worked on the Indo-Australian Joint Venture Project of SAIL & BHP Kinhill. I had
submitted a Project Report to SAIL in June-July1994 of the joint work done by SAIL &
BHP Kinhill in Australia for development and mechanisation of Manoharpur Ore Mines to a
capacity of six million tonnes of iron ore, the largest deposit of iron ore of two thousand
million tonnes in Asia.The Joint Venture Team's work was carried out at Adelaide and
Whyalla in South Australia and Perth and Pilbara Region in Western Australia.
5. Was Honourary Secretary of Mining Engineers Association of India for 3 consecutive years
1982, 1983, 1984 and I own Life Membership of MEAI. Organised and conducted various
meetings, seminars of MEAI at Bara Jamda Sector. A Natioanal Seminar on 'Opencast
Mining, Prospecting and Geological Explorations' was succesfully organised at Gua Ore
Mines in April 1983 - the Silver Jubilee Year of MEAI.
6. Contributed couple of articles on Gua Machanised Mines from safety and environment point
of view under the banner of MEAI.
7. Won several Environment & Mine Safety Awards for Gua & Chiria Group of Mines,
specially won Publicity Propoganda Shield successively for about fifteen years.
8. With Gua's Environment Team, organised planting of about four lakhs plants at Gua Mines
specially in the huge fines dump slopes to prevent land slides as well as to take care of
compensatory afforestation in the mines. Also dykes and stop dams were constructed below
the huge iron ore fines heap to prevent pollution to river Karo. Mines Paryavaran Award
1994, was given to Gua Ore Mines by Vice Chairman SAIL at Kolkata.
9. For Mineral Conservation (both iron ore lumps and fines) despatches were innitiated to
other steel plants viz Durgapur and Bokaro Steel Plants besides own despatches to Burnpur
Plant.Also, Gua Iron Ore Fines were despatched to Bokaro Steel Plant @ 5 lakh tonnes
annually. Some quantity of iron ore fines was exported to China also. M'Pur lump ore was
also despatched to Rourkela Steel Plant, SAIL.
10. In 1992-93, under my leadership, Gua Mines operated at 138% of the rated capacity
(highest ever) and produced over three million tonnes of iron ore lumps and fines.
11. For conservation and utilisation of Gua iron ore fines, besides despatches to Bokaro, a Cold
Bonded Pelletisation Plant of the capacity of one lakh tpa, was established in Gua in late
eightees successfully with the help of R&D SAIL, Ranchi. This technology has high
potential in utilisation and conservation of Gua's iron ore fines resources, control of
pollution and preservation of ecology.
12. In 1993, Regional Controller, IBM, Kolkata awarded a Certificate of Recognation as
qualified person to prepare mine plans by virtue of experince and knowledge. This RQP was
initially valid till 1995 which was further renewed till November 1997.
13. Gave employment, in conjunction with RMD SAIL, to about 120 local Adibasi boys in the
year 1993 in Gua Ore Mines. Since this mass empolyment was open after a long gap of many
years, considerable exercise regarding selection was carried out with the help of Gua's
personnel department for months giving proper weightage to the selection criteria. The
whole process of induction was welcomed by the trade unions and the workers.
14. Introduced water sprinkling (jet sprays) at Ore Handling Plant (having dry crushing and
screening) in the primary crusher for the first time for dust suppression in the plant besides
normalworking of water sprinklers on mine haul roads for the proper working environment
and also on Gua township roads.
15. For providing clean drinking water to Gua township and neighbouring villages, a Water
Treatment Plant was started in 1985 at Gua.
16. Had carried out with Gua Team, peripheral development work in the adjoining villages of
Gua , Chiria and Manoharpur for providing medical facilities including ambulance, mobile
dispensary, medicines and visits by doctors. Financial help was regularly rendered to periph
eral villages for primary education of children and women. Sewing classes were organised,
time to time, along with sewing machine distribution to the local women folk. Water hand
pumps (bore wells) were also installed in the peripheral villages for providing drinking
water.
17. Had organised with Gua Engg. Department's help, erection of Television Tower in New
Colony Community Centre at Gua for workers' entertainment.
18. Actively encouraged workers for their performance in sports and atheletics for the Inter
Mines Sports and hosted Intermines Sports Meet successfully twice at Gua. During my
tenure in April 1987 Gua had the priviledge of hosting Eastern India Power Lifting Champi
onship for three days at Gua Club.
19. An atmosphere was created in Gua and Chiria for different cultural activities right from
school children, ladies and workers. Stage shows of National and International artists were
also organised many a times.
Presently, settled down at my hometown Jabalpur (M.P.) with my wife Dr. Sumanlata
Shrivastava and devoting time in social services, having two sons Dr.Arpan Shrivastava (NHS,
UK) and Nipun Shrivastava (Gap International, US). We cherish the sweet memories of
work, work place, work culture and the constant cooperation of my workers, colleagues and
above all, the guidance of my superiors that made our long stay pleasant at Bara Jamda Area of
West Singbhum, Jharkhand.
